As Kenya accelerates its transition toward clean and sustainable energy, the role of data and research is becoming increasingly critical. While the country has made significant progress in renewable energy generation, ensuring that this transition is inclusive, efficient, and impactful requires evidence-based decision making across the energy ecosystem.
Clean energy refers to power generated from renewable and environmentally friendly sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower. These sources reduce dependence on fossil fuels, address climate change, and improve energy access, especially for underserved communities. As climate challenges intensify, sustainable energy solutions remain central to Kenya’s development.
At the People and Power Energy Congress (PPEC), the Research & Data Department supports this transition by generating and translating data into actionable insights. Through baseline reports, stakeholder surveys, and impact analysis, the department helps inform policy, guide innovation, and support strategic decision-making across the clean energy sector.
Emerging research continues to highlight the critical role of youth in advancing Kenya’s energy transition. Young people are key drivers of innovation and community-based solutions, but their impact depends on access to opportunities, resources, and platforms for meaningful participation.
By tracking impact metrics and producing insight reports, the Research & Data team strengthens accountability and ensures that energy initiatives are aligned with real needs. These efforts also support broader engagements such as innovation labs and national dialogue platforms.
As Kenya moves forward, strengthening data systems and expanding youth participation will be essential in building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable energy future. Through its work, the Research & Data Department remains committed to supporting informed action and empowering stakeholders to actively contribute to the country’s clean energy transition.
